SO HOW DOES IT WORK?
Laser hair removal works by specific wavelengths of light being absorbed by the melanin (dark pigment) that surrounds the hair follicle. The laser gently heats and disables the follicle at the root, which causes the hair to shed naturally over time. By targeting the follicle, long-lasting results can be achieved safely and comfortably.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Each appointment itself is quick, smaller areas like the underarms can take as little as 10 minutes, while larger areas such as the legs may take around 30 minutes.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Laser hair removal works gradually, as hair grows in cycles. Because only the hairs in the active growing stage can be treated at one time, multiple sessions are needed to target every stage of growth. Most clients will need between 6 and 12 sessions dependent on the treatment area, hair type and hormones.

DOES IT MATTER IF I HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION?
It’s important that we know about any medical conditions or medications before starting your treatment, as some can affect how your skin responds to laser. During your consultation, we’ll go through your medical history together to make sure laser is safe and suitable for you. If there’s ever anything we’re unsure about, we’ll always check or ask for your GP’s approval first.
DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING BEFOREHAND?
You must stop any waxing, plucking, tweezing, threading or use of depilatory creams 30 days prior to treatments commencing as we require the hair to be in the follicle to be treated. Only shave prior and in-between treatments to remove any unwanted hair. Treatments cannot be completed on tanned skin - we advise no fake tan for 7 days before a treatment and no sun exposure to the treated areas for at least 4 weeks.
HOW DO I BOOK A CONSULTATION?
Your first appointment with That Laser Place will be your consultation. All consultations will be completed face to face and last no longer than 20-30 minutes. You can book a consultation now by using the 'BOOK A CONSULTATION' button on the home page. Alternatively you can contact us via our WhatsApp or the contact form for further information and advice.

DO I NEED A PATCH TEST?
Yes. Everybody who decides to have treatments with That Laser Place will require a patch test at least 48 hours before commencing treatments. A patch test is an opportunity to ensure that you are suitable for treatments and to identify any adverse effects that may occur before completing a full treatment. Patch tests must also be completed for insurance purposes.
HOW DO I ARRIVE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
Please arrive to your appointment with clean skin. All areas you are having treatments should also be clean shaven within 24 hours before treatment. We want as little hair as possible on top of the skin. Please ensure you are not wearing any perfume, body oils, moisturisers or deodorants as this can lead to adverse effects with the lasers. There will be wet wipes and cleansing wipes on hand if you need to freshen up prior to treatments so please don’t worry if you’re not fresh out the shower but do avoid the above. Also ensure that you are wearing loose clothing as you don’t want your skin to be irritated after treatments.
DOES IT HURT?
Everyone experiences laser hair removal differently, but most people describe the sensation as a quick, warm flick against the skin. At That Laser Place, we use a Zimmer cooling system throughout your treatment to keep the skin cool and comfortable. This makes the experience far gentler and helps reduce any heat or redness afterwards. We’ll always check in with you during your session and adjust settings or speed so everything feels manageable. Most clients find any warmth or redness fades within a few hours.

I HAVE PCOS WILL LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?
We regularly support clients with conditions such as PCOS, which can cause unwanted hair growth. Treatments can be tailored around your needs and laser can be a very effective way to manage symptoms.
CAN ALL SKIN TYPES BE TREATED?
Absolutely. Inclusivity was one of the most important factors when choosing our laser technology. At That Laser Place, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro known as the gold standard in laser hair removal. It combines two wavelengths: Alexandrite (755 nm) for lighter skin tones and Nd:YAG (1064 nm), which is recognised as the safest and most effective laser for darker skin tones, including Black skin. That means we can safely and effectively treat all skin types with confidence.
IS IT PERMANENT?
The hair on your body will never be the same again after laser hair removal treatments. It is possible to get new hair growth from dormant follicles not caught during your treatment cycle or as a result of hormonal changes. After a completed course top ups can be provided to blast any new hairs.
